Newsletter 11th November

Dear Parents and Carers 11/11/2021

Remembrance

We all remembered to stop today at 11am to spend a minute in silence. We discussed why we were doing this in our Celebration Worship this morning and I was able to share a poem written by Brielle in Eagle Class this week as part of their English lesson.

Tears from my gun.

The day the guns fell silent, my gun wept tears instead of bullets.

The day the guns fell silent, poppies sprung from the war torn field, mourning the soldiers.

The day the guns fell silent, the earth stood still, not even a peep.

The day the guns fell silent, the grey clouds hunched over our backs had vanished.

Anti-bullying week

Anti-Bullying Week takes place from 15th to 19th November 2021. This year the theme is One Kind Word. The week will begin with Odd Socks Day so do please remember to wear odd socks on Monday as a way of celebrating what makes us all unique.

Bikeability

It was the turn of Owl Class this week to have cycle training. The Bikeability scheme is run by the local authority as they believe that it is an essential life skill for all young people to learn – and especially to do so safely.

The children also stopped at 11am today for a minute’s silence followed by a vigorous ringing of their bicycle bells.

Summer Reading Challenge

The library’s Summer Reading Challenge this year was called Wild World Heroes. Forty four of our children, between the ages of 4 and 11, were awarded certificates this week for completing the challenge of reading 6 books over the summer break.
